Marieke Lacasse, GGLO Principal, has been elected to the prestigious American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Council of Fellows. ASLA Fellows are recognized for their exceptional contributions to the landscape architecture profession and society at large. Election to the ASLA Council of Fellows is among the highest honors the ASLA bestows and is based on their works, leadership/management, knowledge, and service.

Marieke’s leadership brings a spirit of collaboration that emphasizes an inclusive process resulting in built work reflecting the character, values, and needs of the community. Her dedication to leading conversations around pertinent topics within the built environment, such as climate positive design and affordable housing, has paved the way for more thoughtfully integrated projects. At GGLO, Marieke leads a team of landscape architects and is passionate about communication, mindfulness, respect for others, inclusivity for all voices, and open dialogue, including healthy design discourse. She has made a lasting impact in her field at the local, state, and national levels. Marieke goes above and beyond, leading by example, demonstrating compassion through her actions, commitment to equity and justice, and a genuine passion for mentoring the next generation of landscape architects.

“Landscape architects help build a better world for all of us, and ASLA Fellows represent the most respected and accomplished professionals in the entire field,” said ASLA President Emily O’Mahoney, FASLA. “This year’s class of ASLA Fellows has made outstanding contributions to people’s health, safety, and welfare; environmental sustainability and climate resilience; and stronger communities.”
