"Sagewood at Daybreak demonstrates how senior living can be seamlessly integrated into the community to connect all generations.”

Dennis Cunningham, Chairman of NAHB's Best of 55+ Housing Awards

Sagewood at Daybreak is an innovative example of senior living that consists of four levels of living options: Independent Living, Assisted Living and two more intimate “households”, each with private accommodations for residents needing more personal care. One of these households is for higher care levels of assisted living; the other is for residents who need specialized care for Alzheimer’s or related cognitive challenges. These comfortable, residential-scaled settings promote independence and dignity, reduce anxiety, and offer indoor and outdoor common areas that provide residents choices for where to go and what to do.

GGLO utilized a  holistic design concept for the Sagewood campus, envisioned as “distinct neighborhoods separated by landscaped courtyards”. The “image and identity” of Sagewood is enhanced by carefully placed courtyards and amenity spaces, varied building massing and exterior materials, and landscape design that encourage strong indoor/outdoor connections. Neighborhoods are connected through shared common areas. Interior finishes and detailing are designed to reference and recall local, natural, geologic and mineral resources.

Health and wellness amenities include fitness areas for strength equipment, stretching, and yoga. The indoor swimming pool and spa area has a vaulted ceiling with tall windows to maximize natural light and doors to a small outdoor terrace. Across the entry hall is a full-service salon that includes a therapeutic massage and exam room. A dedicated walkway with seating areas and pet area as well as well as a large interior courtyard with an outdoor fireplace and several seating areas are positioned around the site  to encourage residents to walk and be active both inside and outside.
