Mike, a native of Munich, Germany, grew up in St. Louis where he attended architecture school at Washington University. Though a long-time mid-westerner, Mike found better prospects out West, first working in Albuquerque, then graduate school at the UW in Seattle, where he focused on housing and urban design.
With decades of experience in multi-family housing and a passion for affordable housing, Mike has worked on multiple Seattle-area HOPE VI redevelopment projects as the lead architect and urban designer.
When not at work, Mike gets no rest. In addition to volunteering his time to work on neighborhood urban design issues, he spent 20 years coaching his sons’ baseball teams. On occasion he still gets called in to help his sons, now high school-coaches themselves. Nowadays he generally has more time for his own activities: winter ice hockey, summer baseball, urban exploration, outdoor recreation, and the lifelong task of fixing up his 100+ year old house.
