Connect:

Bonjour! A Montréal native, Marieke bikes to work, is a decent cook, grows vegetables, and is passionate about Active Design, thanks to her daughters and puppy!

Bio:

Marieke is devoted to creating social outdoor spaces that reflect the unique character and interests of their community. Marieke co-leads GGLO’s Landscape Team and has given multiple lectures on the communities she has helped create over her 18 years of practice. She is accustomed to large integrated design teams with heavily involved community participants. The resulting spaces garner awards for their playfulness, highly sustainable features, long-term site stewardship and promotion of health and active living.

Marieke’s studies abroad have given her an appreciation of history and culture, as well as bold contemporary designs and avant-garde concepts. She is active in her neighborhood and the community-at-large, with involvement in past and present efforts related to parks, P-Patches, and gardens. Marieke is a strong supporter of environmental and sustainability causes, affordable housing and social equity. She sits on the Washington Chapter of ASLA’s Executive Committee and volunteers for USGBC’s Special Programs Working Group.
