ULI Spring Tour 2017
ULI will hold its 2017 Spring Meeting May 2–4 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle. A major focus for the 2017 gathering will be innovative development resulting from the influence of the technology industry, which is transforming cities across the United States. The Seattle urban region, which is the headquarters for Microsoft, Amazon, and a host of other major technology-related companies, is a prime example of this urban evolution.
GGLO’s very own, Jeff Foster will be taking part in the festivities by leading the guided tour:
Transit + Housing Innovation = Remaking Neighborhoods.
Building on a legacy of streetcar suburbs, Seattle’s vibrant and diverse neighborhoods today are leveraging new transit options with residential choices to address explosive growth and to suit diverse economic and demographic shifts.
Ride light rail to Columbia City; see diverse housing solutions that include mixed-income redevelopment at Rainier Vista, a mixed-use project anchored by a successful natural supermarket; and hear how modular technology supports transitional housing. Over lunch at Tutta Bella, hear how its founder works among other small, independent retailers to thrive in the face of gentrification.
Continue on light rail to Capitol Hill Station, where Gerding Edlen’s multiblock, mixed-income TOD will sit atop the new underground station. Visit 12th Avenue Arts, artist housing built on city land and 2015 ULI Global Award for Excellence Winner. Hop the streetcar to Yesler Terrace– Seattle’s latest mixed-income redevelopment perched above downtown.
